A Wisdom Psalm
      The LORD is surely good
         To those whose hearts are pure;
      To those upright, who in God's sight
         Are just, the path is sure.
      But all along my way,
         The tempter's charm I see;
      LORD, cast aside ambitious pride,
         And keep me true to Thee.
      The proud with self are clothed,
         And greed their will commands;
      Vain hearts are rent with discontent
         That God their praise demands.
      As slaves they hold us fast,
         And all goodwill oppress;
      They use deceit for our defeat,
         And wrong for righteousness.
      I know my weakness, LORD,
         The ease with which I fall;
      At Thy right hand, I long to stand
         And claim Thee LORD of all!
      What hope have I in earth,
         Or glory yet to be?
      My flesh is frail, my heart may fail,
         But not my love for Thee.
